Girls Weekend: Coastal Getaway

5 Mar

This weekend, while our husbands/fiances were rubbing elbows with some big shots of the sports world at a conference in Boston, my girlfriends and I took off to the Oregon coast for a relaxing weekend in an amazing house.

We cooked delicious food (like this salmon recipe), drank wine and martinis (extra dirty), watched Sex and the City, and gave each other facials. In other words, we did the girliest stuff we could think of. We also ventured into nearby Newport where we strolled along the beach and checked out some local shops, where we were tempted to buy “If mom ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy” and “Girls just wanna have wine” dish towels.

It’s funny how if I had just stayed in my apartment all weekend eating and drinking and watching tv, I would have felt like a loser. But put me in someone else’s house with a few other people, and that is all perfectly acceptable.

This weekend also marked the end of what has been a busy, busy month full of visitors and trips and spending money (wah waaahh). It’s sort of bittersweet – I like having specific things to look forward to, but I am excited to lay low and have some quality weekend time in Eugene. It feels like it has been forever since that has happened.

Anyway, here are some of my photos:
